It's been a wonderful week. My mom came to stay and we've cooked, cleaned and weeded. I've heard hawks calling to each other across the valley, glimpsed a fox slipping into the tall grass along the side of the road, noticed the strange sunset light after a late-day rain shower, stopped short at murmurations of starlings wheeling across the sky, and admired the slimmest crescent moon. I checked on the bees, and re-watched
an episode of Nature about crows — remarkable creatures. They recognize faces, make their own tools, and speak a language with two dialects.
There's not much in the way of adventures or excursions on our agenda, but we're keeping busy with chores and homely pastimes.
Happy weekend.
